Despite its shape reminiscent of the first individual utensils ever brought to the table during the Italian Renaissance period, Renaissance was only launched in 1970. This pattern was previously the jewel in the crown of the Cardheilhac collection, a small bespoke French silversmith bought by Christofle shortly after WWII.
This instantly recognizable pattern, due to the unusual shape of its individual utensils, with a clip point blade for the knife and a three prong fork was only ever produced in sterling silver. Every part of its clover shape finial with its central motif of a “putti”” ( angels which appear in many Renaissance paintings and murals) is entirely hand-cast, hand-chased and stamped. No silversmith in the world offers a similar model as it manufacturing requires a know-how few still possess. It remains one the fleurons of the current Christofle sterling collection. As a special order for private customers it has also been produced with Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stones. Price indicated is for a place setting of 7 pieces. Manufacturing takes 90 days from order.
